In the year of its 25th anniversary, Mercado Libre continues to make the most of its technological capacity to operate with a focus on business transparency. In this regard, the company presented its Transparency Report for the first half of 2024, which highlights the progress and achievements in the creation of a secure and reliable digital environment for its millions of users.
The report showcases the optimization of processes and increased accuracy in the four pillars of action.
Key figures from the report:
- Information requests: during the first half of 2024, Mercado Libre positively responded to 89% of the 45,368 information requests received from various authorities.
- Content moderation: 97% of the posts removed for violating the platform’s terms and conditions were detected by Mercado Libre’s teams and softwares, demonstrating the effectiveness of its technological tools. These removed posts represented 0.77% of the massive volume of 592 million active publications.
- Protection of intellectual property rights (IPR): 90% of the content removed for IPR infringement was proactive detections. During this period, 500,021 reports were submitted through the Brand Protection Program (BPP).
- Privacy: on the first half of 2024, 92% of the 1,202,923 requests for access, rectification, cancellation, and opposition (ARCO) rights exercised by users were handled through automated tools, ensuring faster and more efficient responses.
