Mercado Libre today released the eleventh edition of its Transparency Report, covering the second half of 2025. This report reflects progress in content moderation, cooperation with authorities, intellectual property protection, and personal data management across Latin America.
In the second half of 2025, Mercado Libre analyzed 1.084 billion listings, a 67% increase compared to the first half of the year. Despite this significant growth in scale, 99% of infringements were detected proactively, demonstrating the consolidation of a model built on anticipating risks rather than reacting to external complaints.
In line with this evolution, the removal rate dropped to 0.76% (vs. 1.06% in the previous semester), reflecting an improvement in ecosystem quality: an increasing number of users are publishing listings in compliance with the rules from the outset, in an environment where prevention acts as an incentive for correct behavior.
On the institutional cooperation front, during the period the company responded to 412,620 information requests from judicial and administrative authorities across the region, a 7.4% increase compared to the first half of the year. The average response time was 5 days, demonstrating that, even at greater scale, the company maintains agility in its engagement with authorities.

Intellectual Property
The Brand Protection Program (BPP) closed the semester with more than 104,000 registered intellectual property rights — a 19% increase compared to the first six months of 2025 — and nearly 20,000 active members. During the period, 5.5 million proactive detections were recorded, accounting for 93% of all actions taken against infringements, an improvement of nearly four percentage points versus the first half of the year. This translates into a safer environment for users and brands, with reduced exposure to counterfeit products.
In parallel, the Mercado Libre Anti-Counterfeiting Alliance (MACA) filed 9 criminal complaints in Brazil, Mexico, and Chile, carried out 6 operations in coordination with authorities and brands, and surpassed the milestone of 45 metric tons of counterfeit products seized since its launch in 2021. Additionally, in partnership with the Chilean National Chamber of Commerce, the company organized the first MACA event in Santiago, with the participation of 85 ecosystem stakeholders.
In this context of progress, we were invited by the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC) — a global organization bringing together companies, brands, and public sector actors to combat counterfeiting and piracy — to join as an Intermediary Member in 2026. This membership recognizes e-commerce platforms whose policies and tools significantly advance the IACC's mission.
Privacy
More than 1.5 million people managed their personal information (such as accessing, correcting, or deleting data) by exercising their ARCO rights (access, rectification, cancellation, and opposition), a 9.9% increase compared to the first half of the year. 98.6% of those requests were resolved automatically, enabling users to maintain greater control over their information in a simple and efficient manner.
"Today our challenge is not to react, but to anticipate. With systems that analyze thousands of variables in real time, we are able to proactively detect 99% of infringements. This progress is part of a continuous improvement process, with the goal of getting ever closer to completely eliminating irregular products from the platform. We will continue investing in technology and prevention to strengthen trust and raise safety standards across the region," said Federico Deya, Head of Legal Central, Mercado Libre.

Mercado Libre was the first Latin American company to publish a Transparency Report on a regular basis. This eleventh edition consolidates a trajectory that began when such commitments were not yet a widespread practice in the region.
Mercado Libre's marketplace brings together millions of SMBs, entrepreneurs, and users across Latin America. Protecting the integrity of that ecosystem with public data, verifiable processes, and tools that evolve semester after semester is central to its mission of democratizing commerce.
