Conectadas

Mercado Libre is committed to the fact that more women can unveil the endless technological opportunities available for them and the world. We believe this type of programs make their contribution to changing the current paradigms and build up a young people community with the tools and confidence to create innovative solutions towards the challenges of their community.

Conectadas (Connected) is an online and free initiative promoted by Mercado Libre, Chicas en Tecnología y Reprograma (Girls in Technology & Reprogramming), intended to bring technology closer to girls from 14 to 18 years old in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. Such program is intended to encourage participant’s digital skill learning to develop social impact programs.

Over the last years, Conectadas has reached more than 2,700 girls in Latin America, who have been able to develop more than 370 projects with social impact. From them, 92% stated to have further knowledge of training options and professional technological development.

Certified Tech Developer

It is forecasted that in 2025, 13 million job positions related to new technologies in Latin America will have to be filled. The purpose of Certified Tech Developer is to encourage an increasing number of people to study programming and other digital disciplines needed in all organizations related to the development of the knowledge economy.

This initiative is about creating jobs not only for a specific sector in the industry, but for all economic sectors. 

The Certified Tech Developer program was co-created by Mercado Libre, Globant and Digital House, to allow young people to get all the intensive knowledge they need to be able to become part of the IT worldwide taskforce. Enrolment to this program was very successful, since its launching, with over 150 thousand people in Argentina, Colombia and Brazil. Through this initiative, more than 10,000 young people in Latin America will be trained and 2,500 scholarships will be granted.
